Looking at a sat tv system, does anyone know of a good reliable system? have been told about vansat from Mackay Qld, they are fairly expensive but do have a fully 12v dc hd sat receiver, I think about $1,110 complete, only interested in free to air.

HI Scotty. The new VAST system is the best way to go. We brought our set-up from Dario caravans in Adelaide. It cost about $540.00 from memory for everything you will need. Brian

Forgot to add it is a 240volt system but we just use a small inverter to run it on 12v. Brian

We have a Sat Plus system that uses VAST and it is brilliant. Price was about$700 with a 75cm dish. Have a look at the Sat Plus website. There are many others that would be cheaper than what you have been quoted. Happy viewing.

Vansat

Check the vansat website. The complete setup is $799 and it is a VAST system.

Need to get facts straight if you quote them.

Thanks Alan,

Yes but it is another $199 for the 12v decoder or receiver plus delivery...which brings it up. I think it would be worth having it all 12 v

Scotty I stand corrected.

I agree that having everything 12V is the way to go.

I am a happy customer of an old system (3 years) but I guess that I will have to upgrade to VAST sooner or later.

I have always received first class service from Vansat.

Before you buy the Decoder with the 12v conversion and it is a conversion. Ask if there is still a manufactures warranty on the decoder after the conversion is done.

The new Vast stb. is $279 it is only a 240v box and no current 12vdc stb. is available.
One seller is doing an in house mod (basically fitting a small inverter internally) and selling the unit at a ridiculous price.
The warranty would then be a return to dealer affair, as the UEC warranty would be void.

As said the Vast stb. can easily be run from a small inverter, which then could be used for small battery charging or many other uses while camping.

A dish can be bought for around $50, plus stand, Lnb, meter and a couple of cables.

The max you really want to pay for a kit would be around $450 -500.

Some unscrupeless dealers are still pushing the old Aurora system stb's and these will be unusable in a couple of years, and the picture quality is rubbish compared to the newer Vast system.

You are joking aren't you ?

Expect us to read your mind !

Is it for your house ?
Or for your caravan in a fixed place?
Or for a Moblie unit that changes position every day ?
On a Motorhome , or Caravan roof ?

Do you want a press and go unit that self positions the dish ?

Or are you after the cheapest unit you can buy but spend an age setting the unit up each night and move on the next day ?

Geez..you know how to ask a question !!

You ARE so clever sorry....

Why so many people answer these post with little or no helpful information, is it just to see their name in print?
